What does it mean to give children the best start in life and how can we achieve it?
As parents and educators, one of the most daunting questions we ask ourselves is how to best prepare our kids for a bright and happy future.
At Mini Maestros, we’ve combined scientific research with years of experience working with children to create a holistic approach which nurtures children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development from the moment they enter the class.
We’re all about giving kids the ultimate head start in life.
It’s not just about ABCs and 123s; it’s about firing up those young brains from day one and we know that music and movement is the best way to do it.
Thankfully, science backs us up big time! Research has proven that early experiences shape children’s brains and how they learn, behave and develop. Excitingly, early participation in music and movement lessons is a sure way to supercharge children’s overall wellbeing and development.
This is because…
experiencing music is a whole brain and body event. Think about it, when you put on a fun song that you and your kids love, your body naturally wants to move, you start singing for the world to hear, you tap along on the furniture and pull out your best dance moves! All the while this is happening you are stimulating many areas of the brain for a great brain work out. The best part is, you don’t even realise because you’re having so much fun!
It gets better…
While your children are singing and moving and grooving to their favourite songs, or practising their favourite instrument, their brains are creating a fabulous fireworks display of neural connections. They are forming rhythmic patterns which links to strengths in mathematics, comprehending and producing language, building memory skills and motor skills, and improving their spatial awareness. Further, different styles or stories within music produce different emotions for children to discover and experience, thus teaching them about empathy and emotional and social regulation. While making music every area of the brain is stimulated; a full brain workout.
Now let’s take it even further!
Learning music in a group creates opportunities to support the social growth of children. When children play music together, they learn about cooperation, listening to others, turn taking and teamwork! These are all essential skills for forming healthy relationships with others.
So how do we give children the best start you ask? Simple – Let’s use music and movement to provide children with an outlet for self-expression, to find their inner rockstar and build their confidence for every day to come.
At Mini Maestros we are passionate about spreading our love of music and encouraging children to shine their brightest from their brains to their fingertips!
There is no other activity quite like it! At Mini Maestros, believing in every child’s potential is what puts a spring in our step every single day…and that’s even before we start the music!
